Delta state Government has flagged off women empowerment skills acquisition programme with a call on the women to improve their economic wellbeing with the starter packs that they will receive at the end of the training programme.
The event held at the Prof. Chike edozien Secretariat brought together women from the twenty five local government areas of the state.
Speaking during the flag off ceremony,the Commissioner for Women Affairs community and Social development Honourable Pat Ajudua said the women were carefully selected from the 25 local government areas and advised them to always appreciate Governor Oborevwori’s determined effort at positively turning around the fortune of women in the state.
The Commissioner said the women Affairs ministry enrolled 220 skilled women, yet to establish their business and would be retrained for two weeks while on Completion of the training would be given Start up packs to begin their own businesses, stressing that the governor’s effort would improve women’s economic development and enhance economic opportunities.
Princess Ajudua, while advising the Shortlisted women to embrace the programme with sincerity of purpose said Governor Oborevwori’s gesture at ensuring meaningful development and realistic reforms in the economic sector has made room for women development..
She noted that the ministry will carry out a monitoring and evaluation exercise during the period of training to ensure that the governor Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda is Accomplished.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of women Affairs community and Social Development Mrs Oghenekevwe Agas taught the beneficiaries on prudent financial Management.
She said they must separate their business money from personal money, cultivate the habit of saving and advised them to be contented as well as the need to market themselves as beneficiaries of the Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda.
