Twelve Rotary clubs in Warri and it’s environs under Rotary international District 9141 offered free medical services to residents of the areas .
The free medical services took place at Ogunu health center,Ogunu Warri South local government area of Delta State.
The medical exercise is at the instance of the Rotary family health Days Programme held across the country as part of efforts aimed at advocating Public Health Awareness.
The three days free Medical health care services organised by the 12 Rotary clubs in Warri and it environs was an opportunity for residents of Ogunu ,Ugbuwangue,Ekurede urhobo amongst other communities to get medical attention with Medical experts.
The free medical services aimed at providing high quality healthcare to the vulnerable populations especially women and children.
The programme also target those who can not afford regular healthcare checks .
The exercise which is Rotary action group for health and aid control saw beneficiaries diagnosed, treated, given drugs and mosquitoes nets.
Speaking at the event the medical team lead Dr Lucky Omowhare said the initiative by Rotary is a noble course that would help to alleviate the sufferings of the people especially in the search for medical services.
Dr Omowhare noted that Malaria is one of the killer ailments and advised beneficiaries to be concerned about their health by yielding to professional advice and good eating habits.
Delta State coordinator for Rotary family health day, Rotarian Franklin Oteh, site coordinator Rotarian Omoye Fishinton as well as a past assistant District Governor Rotarian Keyinde Oisemaye Maintained that Rotary is at the forefront in the advocacy for public health campaign, reiterating the non governmental organization commitment to seeing humanity medically free as it remain poised in eradicating polio, tuberculosis, HIV and AIDS amongst other life threatening diseases.
They urged Nigerians to prioritize healthy lifestyle and regular medical check up to avoid emergency situation which often times may be out of control.
The beneficiaries who could not contain their joy appreciated Rotary clubs in Warri and it’s environs for the opportunity to get free medical services.
They called on Rotary to sustain the programme as the exercise had greatly relieved them the financial burden to access quality Medical services.
12 Rotary clubs participated in the outreach, including Rotary club of Warri , Rotary club of Bendel Estate , Rotary club of Edjeba , Rotary club of Effurun, Rotary club of Effurun GRA,Rotary club of Ekpan ,Rotary club of Ogunu, Rotary club of Osubi,Rotary club of Plantation City, Rotary club of Ubeji,Rotary club of Warri central and Rotary e-club of one world D-9141.
